Bluegills?

Just wondering if anyone is catching any gills in the waukesha area?

I do basically the same thing, except I keep trolling with my trolling motor on the weedlines. In clear lakes like Okauchee I usually just site fish them in the shallows. You look for shallow weeds and cast to them with small bobbers.

Although I will not be able to fish for the big gills that I love to target early spring I definitly give the Madison Chain my 1st choice for big gills followed by the bago system and Geneva. All three lakes fish totally different but all have big bulls gills!!! I'll be up in Green Bay most of this sprin chasing big eyes :-((

I am done ice fishing for the year and am looking forward to the gap inbetween ice-out and the gamefish opener. I usually try and hit the bluegills hard that time of year. Pine has been good and so has Pewaukee. I basically drive my boat around the edges of the lake in about 10-19 f/o/w with the sonar on and look for my graph to light up, then anchor and kill 'em. My best luck has been on a split shot, small aberdeen hook, and a small bit of night crawler. I just cast it out about 10-12 feet and then close the bail and let it slowly sink to the bottom. A lot of my fish come on the drop or right when it reaches the bottom and suspends. I have caught some where I honestly thought it was a walleye.

Anyone else have any good ideas or tips?
