try using a crankbait or go to a single hook (little difference in hookup % but big difference in snagging)

Post I Keep snaggin carp

I went out to South Pier in Sheboygan a couple times this past weekend and along with a very small brown and a small northern, I kept snaggin carp (usually on the tail which makes for a fun fight, but I would rather not have to deal with them). Am I fishing too close to the bottom that I keep snagging them? I'm using a Mr Champs and I typically let it sink to the bottom and then reel it in moderately fast. I can feel it hitting the bottom once in a while.
