Default Fishing

Don't give up...it may not happen this year but give it a few years and things should come around, what they need is a fish refuge very similar to ocomomwoc river which is there until the end of may by this time most of the ski's will return to the lake. Suggest a fish refuge extened date or possibly an emergency rule. It takes time brother!

Default I cant save these muskies :(

There are over 100 muskies stuck below a dam near my house. The dam is so small you could jump over it when the water is low. The dam is a fish refuge right now but on May 3rd fishing opens and these muskies will still be there. The fish will get slaughtered just like they did last year and just like they did the year before and the year before that.

I spoke with local DNR and the local fish manager - no one is really willing to help the muskies out. I suggested organizing a fish rescue - they said if someone catches one hook and line the fish can be moved above the dam but then it will just fall back over and do more damage to the fish.

The DNR told me they have been trying to come up with a solution for years - even though they where really nice to me and expressed their own personal concern for the fish as well it just doesnt seem right to let so many of these fish die.

I told them I would be willing to go out and net everyday or organize a arge fish rescue with the help of other muskie organizations. They said maybe next year
