Fished "the Rock " on Saturday amongst the traffic. Did a lot of trolling with shad raps. Caught a bizillion whitebass. Well, I lost count around 35. Walleyes weren't as willing, I boated 2 short guys I am assuming due to the amount of rec traffic on the lake that day.

If you haven't caught a whitebass while trolling, WOW. WHAT A FIGHT!!!!

Default April 17th , 18th

Headed up north intending on fishing the river but things were kind of slow so decided to hit Castle Rock. We fished there Friday and Saturday with decent success. Saturday was warmer than Friday and the action was a little better as well. We fished mainly the bridge and yellow river areas with 5-10 fow being the best depths. Caught mostly crappies and white bass but also landed a nice cat, a bunch of short\walleye, and had a mid 30's northern snap off at boat side. A bobber and a hook were all you needed, set about 2-3 ft. down and you were set. Also spent the last couple hours of light on saturday throwing rooster tails and caught a ton of white bass. Water was really warm by the bridge, had low 50's on Friday and surface temps hit 60 by Saturday afternoon!!! Some of the Craps had eggs in them but they are going to drop real soon. Even some of the white bass were milking already. Was a fun couple of days with good weather and fishing, cant ask for much else...

Good Luck Guys,

Ryan

Default It Rained a little

Late report, fished last weekend on the Rock, Friday Saturday Sunday. Water temp just shy of 70.

Friday was hot before the front came through, tossed swim jigs and spinnerbaits in the shallow wood and weeds and caught largemouth, smallmouth, pike, and walleye. Two of the pike were 35" and a couple of the walleyes came on spinnerbaits and were over 20".

Deep bite was also good for smallmouth with tube jigs off of deep rock- we picked up many fish up to 19.5". Also picked up a bonus 15" crappie. It was one of the best days of fishing I have seen on the Rock.

Saturday the rain started around 11:00 am and continued to storm through Sunday Evening- The lake went up almost 1.5 feet while we were there, and was still far from cresting- and the water became dark. Needless to say, we spent a lot of time in the cabin between lightning storms and tornadoes. The whole Central area of Wisconsin got hit hard with rain.

had 2 buddies on castle rock yesterday, there is still 20+ inches of ice, he did say there was alot of top water when they left at noon, we need the night temps to drop off to extend this ice. he said the bite was slow, but they still managed 50 fish total, more white bass than crappies this time, can't wait till the next weekend, my son has a compition in waunakee sat. me and my boys age 6 and 9 will be on delevan tonight after school, letting the kids have a ball on the gills sight fishin, i haven't even had to use my aqua-vu this year.

Default castle rock

fished here sat with 2 other buds, we caught 65 keepers, and caught better than 80 fish total, first spot we fished was 14ft deep, a few whitebass, then tried a few other spots, same thing whitebass, then we moved to our last spot, as soon as i dropped a minnow down, it kept going straight to the bottom, fish on, a crappie, then pulled 5-6 more as fast i could get down there, couldn't even get the second rod down or baited up, then i finnally got the both down, and caught a few more crappies, then a school of perch came thru nailed 3, then i finally had a double, both crappies. all my fish caught on minnows and glow jigs. the other guys with me were using spikes and glow jigs, they had crappies, perch, whitebass, and some dandy gills. here is a pic of my fish, fish on!!!!!
