Ice Fishing for Browns? (Lake Michigan)

No report... Saturday's rain killed any chance of getting out. Hopefully some other time, when the ice gets safe.

I use 8-12 lb test, these fish fight hard and can snap you off quickly. Milwaukee has plety of ice in the summerfest lagoon and in Mckinnely and the fishing has been pretty good. As far as structure not much to look for these fish jus cruise around, set up with some jigging spoons, tip ups and minnows and go to work. best of luck and post a report how you do.

not sure if milwaukee harbor is safe...might want to head to racine.

6lb fluoro leaders with small hook - treble or single. Shiners or spawn work. Fish move around, so you need to find bait and spread out if you can.

for jigging you want a longer rod 36in + with good drag. they hit spoons, jigging raps or jigs.

A buddy and myself are going to make a trip out to the Milwaukee harbor this weekend (never been out there). I was hoping someone could answer a few questions. We've never fished browns, what techniques work? Tip-ups, jigging? Are you using a flouro leader, if so what pound? Single Treble with a spawn sack on tips, and what are you using on a jig rod. What kind of water are you looking for; Deep, breaks, shallow flats, weeds, piers, etc.. Are you using a vexilar when jigging? Thanks in advance to anyone that can lend me a helping hand.
