last night i went to kenosha harbor to cast a couple of spoons, and caught one brown and 2 small cohos. but since i caught 2 cohos, i wonder if even early of year, will they biting orange dodgers with flies, or rather crankbaits and spoons still? i caught some on orange dodgers and flies around april month in years past, but if on march, would it work?

hitting the harbor and Marina this morning, Harbor, caught nothing and see none. then go marina, nothing, but see a man caught a nice brown with a white tube, and only see 2 crusing trouts. ice is forming, marina have around 1 inches in some spots, which i did smash some holes to put bait in next of piers, nothing there. i use 2 poles with spawn and one casting cranks and spoons.
are there any one get any luck? or should i use something else?

this morning, i went to take a look at kenosha harbor, at boat launch, clearity is better, but other parts and outside of harbor, very chocalate milk...... but at launch, i managed to see bottom, which i could not last sunday. but sad part, saw 3 kids snagging some trouts out. but i finished talked with their parent. but they still refuse to release trouts.
did saw a man caught a pretty coho legally. i wonder if anyone else catch anything? if so, how it is?
i planning to go out tomorrow morning and see what i can catch.

go to some shore fishing this morning near launch. only fished almost 2 hours, water clearity is very dirty, but i managed have few follow up brown on spoon, nothing on spawn sacks. i do caught a small brown, but released it cause i accidently snagged it. i notice smaller number of kings, it seem it about time they start to die. it possibly i might try again around friday, which about time water should clear up to chase browns.
on other notice, saw 3 mens snagging some kings. hate to see them.

just go out today around 4:45 to 7:30 pm outside kenosha harbor. caught 2 kings both in spawning mode, but still at 20 fow outside harbor? also caught 1 small brown. released kings, kept brown because it is bleeding. lost 2 other bites. all actions on spoons, but they seem like small ones. 1/4 oz cleo caught kings, and large orange spoons catch brown and 2 bites.

Nice coho, Deno.
Late report for 9-30 to 10-2
Went 11/14 with 7 Chinook, 1 King, and 3 Coho. Found fish all over as we moved to keep the wind at our backs and stay on top of clear water. The fish took a mix of spoons, cranks, and skein. My buddy landed a "Real Bigfish". Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands. The big one was 43"L x 23"G and weighed just over 29#. See pic.

Made it out in the Racine harbor for a hour and a half or so this evening from shore. When I got there saw lots of coho's jumping so I started casting spoons and went 2-3. The one on my left was spawned out. Don't remember if I ever caught a coho from shore in the fall, sure was fun. Good fishing Deno!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Three of us fished Racine from Thurs night to Friday morning. We went 5/7 with one 21# and one 16#. We had one lost at the net and one dropped on skein. Most of our fish came on glow spoons, took one on a crank. Here are the biggest two. Both fish nice and clean. Both full of eggs. I am curing the skein and will be back in a few weeks when fishing picks up again.

Depending on where you are coming from, I would check out Lake Michigan Angler in Winthrop Harbor, IL. (see thread entitled "my new store is open") or R&R sporting goods in Cudahy (South Milwaukee). Either of those places should be able to key you in as to what the fish are hitting on at the time. For the most part though, its gonna be spoons, cranks, and spawn for the rest of the year. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I am planning on getting out next weekend. I'll have an arsenal of spoons, cranks, spawn and skein to try. Looks like some west winds next week, and maybe some rain coming this week. It looks like it is shaping up nicely.
Thanks, again

Waugeye- Fishing has been picking up in all of the ports. A lot of nice four year old being caught all over the place. More in the harbors than towards the rivers. Still, every day is different and some will be better than others, but the next two weeks or so will probably be some of the best shore fishing of the year for somewhat clean fish. A lot of fish are allready getting pretty dark, and that will be more and more the case in the next few weeks. So, my suggestion would be to get down here sooner rather than later. Your best bet would be to come after a day or two of west wind if we get it. The colder the water, the more active the fish are it seems. good luck.

The reports have been silent for a while now. This either means that the fish are snapping, or they just aren't there. Is there anything going on in the mouth of the Root, or the Pike, or in either harbor? I am dying to get out since the last skunkfest in Milwaukee back in late July. I would check myself, but it's five hours each way and I would hate to waste another trip. I'd be willing to trade some skein (if I get a feamle) for a tipoff.

Fished on-shore for a hour or so. Trying to see if come chinooks were heading in. Did not see any sign of them yet, but did find a couple of browns. Larger female was full of beautiful skein. Good fishing. DEAN
