Got out 4 times this week for salmon, tried skein and lures. Last night was the only night I did well. I caught the second biggest salmon I ever landed in my entire life, and a few salmon with chrome still. That beast I landed I cant even say how big it was, but it was easily over 25lbs. Took me a half hour to land the thing, and it almost spooled me twice. I love fishing the Full moon. We finally have ideal conditions with wind direction and beautiful weather. But this isnt lasting long because a nasty coldfront will be here tomorrow.
Last night my fiance Michelle caught 1 fish, and I got 2 good friends of mine hooked up with their first salmon ever. Besides that, we fished for 9 hours, day and night. Day sucked without even a hit, night was better, but most of our action came within a 1 hours period. All on glow spoons, cleos, ko wobblers, moonshines, and krocadiles all caught fish. My fiance Michelle hooked the first fish of the night, and then action died. We left for an hour to eat, and use the bathroom, and we all came back and the action was on. Its strange what 1 hour can do to fishing. I am just happy that my first salmon of 2011 was a giant. So the total was 5 fish landed, 4 lost, and 3 hits that never hooked up. Cannot complain with those results after getting skunked 3 times before.
Good Luck everyone!
Needtofishmore, very nice chrome giant! I havent seen salmon this big in at least 10 years.

Slow start in Port with the water being so warm. Picked one up Friday morning off the pier before first light, about a 18lb silver female and that was it. Looks like a very early spawn bite here if this water continues to be so warm and keeps the kings sluggish. Only a few other kings are being picked up around the harbor mainly on spawn.

Fished Port on Friday. I believe the salmon are getting more active. I went 1 for 5 trolling crank baits. The best bite was just after the sun came up and just after it went down. Had two Kings snap me off. One of the Kings must have been a genius, because when I got it close to the boat it dove under the boat and despite trying to manuever the fish and boat away, the fish rubbed the line and snapped it. Almost seemed like it knew what it was doing.
