HFT1978: I personally use Power Pro braid in 10lb test, it has a 2lb test monofilament diameter. I have never had problems with that line. I am not a fan of Spiderwire or Fireline at all personally, Power Pro is my top choice for fishing line. When they say its 10lb test, its actually far stronger than that so you dont have to worry. I havent been using fluorocarbon leaders personally since the water is more dingy or, because I am night fishing. But if the water is crystal clear I use a tiny swivel, and tie a 12lb test 3 foot section of leader to it. But a medium action rod, quality reel with a smooth drag that can hold 200 yards of line, Power Pro 10lb, you cant go wrong. Ive been nervous personally because I only have 150 yards of line on my reel, and almost got spooled twice hooking up with the monster salmon I posted a picture of before. These fish dont mess around! Good Luck!
