Got a Ho with loose eggs yesterday. Golden gems! :)

Looks like some really nice eggs! I only got 1 female coho my entire life so far, and the eggs seemed to make a huge difference in my catch rate. It was skein, but it whooped the King skein I was using as well. Same cure on both skeins, but for some reason the coho skein got hit a lot more.

Well the coho's are in at Port. I've been catching 2 to 3 salmon off the pier every morning I've been out since last Wednesday. Fishing from 5 to 7am, then it has been shutting off. Very clean fish with the biggest king at 19lbs. and the biggest coho at 13lbs. Went out tonight for only 40mins. and wound up with an 8lb coho on a hot shot. This rain will really kick things up!

I find that real cold water temps close to shore by this time of year can turn things off, but it definitely is WAY better than really warm water. Water temps about mid/upper 50s and low 60's is perfect for fall kings, but rain is definitely the most important factor now. If your hoping for the 2/3 y.o. to come back in, it might happen with the cold water, but you never know really until you go out and try.
Ready for some fun? Lets go fishin!!! :p

Managed a little bit of luck out of Milwaukee this past Wednesday evening.
We also saw a couple pulled up by shore fisherman.
As the temps drop, the bite should only get better.

Managed to pick up this one on spawn the first 10 min. of fishing yesterday. Had my little helper along which came in handy after the fish took me for a walk and she had to drag my 11 foot net over to me. That was after she had to reel in my other line to avoid any tangles! Glad she was there. Fished for two hours and then had to pick up the other two kids from school but had a nice time.

Looks like you guys had a good time! Awesome that you got to pick up some big females as well as some good eating fish too. Cant ask for more than that. I pounded the gaps and river mouth pretty good the past two days, in search of "the one" but there just wasnt much going on. Caught a few solid fish, but nothing to write home about. Skipper definitely had you guys on the right bite.

HFT I have the perfect solution to your problem. There isn't a knot stronger than the alberto knot.
I saw it on a T.V show and have been using it for 4 years now and never have broke off with this knot. In the last two years I've caught 30 kings using 10lbs Fireline and 12lbs fluro leader using this knot. Make sure you use a Palamor knot to tie to the lure. It takes only a few minutes to learn this knot and I promise you will never have a problem again. Good luck. One more thing, the knot runs perfect through your eyelet's so you won't feel it running through while you cast.

Fished a southeastern WI harbor last night. Water temp 63 F. Fished from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Nothing between 6:30 to 7:30. Then things turned on. On my way troling out toward the gaps I had three hits within 10 minutes (first two were on for only a few seconds). After a 15-20 min fight I caught the third. I picked up the other king about 1/3 of the way in from the gaps. There were no shore fisherman when things turned on and there was only one other fishing boat inside the breakwater and outside that I could see. All hits came on chartreuse cranks. Kings were 17 and 21 pounds.Attached Image: IMG_3513.JPGAttached Image: IMG_3517.JPG

HFT1978: I personally use Power Pro braid in 10lb test, it has a 2lb test monofilament diameter. I have never had problems with that line. I am not a fan of Spiderwire or Fireline at all personally, Power Pro is my top choice for fishing line. When they say its 10lb test, its actually far stronger than that so you dont have to worry. I havent been using fluorocarbon leaders personally since the water is more dingy or, because I am night fishing. But if the water is crystal clear I use a tiny swivel, and tie a 12lb test 3 foot section of leader to it. But a medium action rod, quality reel with a smooth drag that can hold 200 yards of line, Power Pro 10lb, you cant go wrong. Ive been nervous personally because I only have 150 yards of line on my reel, and almost got spooled twice hooking up with the monster salmon I posted a picture of before. These fish dont mess around! Good Luck!

I went last weekend hoping for my first salmon i lost 1 on a jerk bait my knot broke where my braid was tied to my fluro i was using 10LB spider wire and 10LB fluro with an albrite knot. What LB leaders do you guys use thinking i should doulble it to 20LB sugestions on knots. I can make it up the 24th 25th do you guys think there will still be e good harbor bite going? Growing up living in the La Crosse WI area fishing the mississippi i have never had to use fluro leaders before so this is all new to me. Thanks Matt

Fished last night for 45min in the harbor in Port and hooked up within 5 minutes with about a 15lb female jigging off the bottom. Sometimes you just get lucky I guess. Plenty of spawn now with only two salmon caught this fall but both females. That doesn't happen much for me. I'm very excited to get out now with the wind change. Hopefully the fish will chase a little more! Can't get enough September fishing! Nice job Jason!

eyeguy, thank! That is one of the biggest salmon I ever caught, and the biggest I seen in years. I am hoping I get another as big or bigger this year, and hopefully you get one as well eyeguy! Maybe someone will get a 35+ pounder sooner. I dont doubt theyre out there somewhere.
