Had the opposite luck today. Got out for four hours into the evening. Largemouth fishing was pitiful, and picked up a half dozen smallies, but nothing of any substantial size. A bonus 37" pike and a couple 32-33" cats saved the day. Tough fishing. Things totally shut down when the east wind started up around 630 PM. Better days ahead as Eric said.

The bite was soid today with just about as many largies as you wanted up shallow, most of which are smaller males getting ready to bed. Actually saw a few fish making beds as well. Caught some decent largies up to 19 inches and we snapped off a few to many as well. Landed a few decent smallies but still nothing to brag about. Better days to come for the big girls.........At least i hope so!

Thanks for the report, pan handler. If I can ask ... how deep did you find the females? I thnk you know which lake I fish ... if you ever see me out wading ... stop and say hello!

Got out for the first time today in Madison, fished mid-day from roughly 10 to 5. Fishing was great, landed just less than 60 bass between two of us, and had many others that did not make it to the boat. Biggest was a touch under 5 lbs. Mix of smallies and largemouths, most fish were males in that 14-16 inch range. Water was 54 to start, 61-62 surface temp when we left. Nothing on beds yet though, just seems like males starting to nose their way into the shallows.

Got out again this afternoon and evening for a while. Got 13 largemouth, all males. Most were within 10 feet of the shore (2' of water or less) and laying tight to dock posts. Females are still staging in deeper water. Jigged for walleyes tonight and didn't get a single walleye, but did pick up a 34" muskie on a Zoom mini-fluke. Always fun on light equipment.

Got out for a couple of hours this morning. Fought the wind and the crowds. Got one decent walleye in a current area and 7 largemouth ... most uder docks and on weed flats adjoining the shoreline. Biggest bass was only 16", but if felt really good to be out there again!
