Good guess! Drinking beer and watching the Brewers! Too tired after 4 hours of wading this morning. It sucks getting old! :)

Got out this morning at 6:00. It was an incredibly beautiful morning. The calm winds and clear skies set things up wonderfully for … frog fishing. I had 3 bass in before i finished the first dock. The bite was strong until about 7:00 … when I ran out of frogs. Jigged for a while but conditions we’re not ideal for jigging. Gave up at 10:00 and headed home to bottle my latest homebrew.

Mailman arrived at 11:00 and so did 56 more frogs! Guess what I’m doing tonight?

Bass fishing is red hot right now. Had a few hours tonight so I headed to a stretch of docks I hadn't fished yet this year. Ended up with 15, including this 22". Got her on a frog once the sun went down and shoreline calmed. Sometimes I hate fishing alone ... getting a decent pic by yourself sucks!

Decent west wind made things interesting today. Fished with my buddy Troy and had a blast getting them on jigs and Chigger Craws. They were right on the bottom and tight on the posts.

Water is still pretty warm along the shoreline. Bass are under the docks but not real active. I've been doing fairly well with frogs. Nothing like watching them explode on frog a few feet away!

Finally got enough cortisone in the elbow that I can fish again. Got out dock fishing twice this week and got about 55 largemouth combined. A lot of solid 15" to 16" fish and a few bigger. Getting everything working Banjo Minnow frogs VERY slowly ... Sit, twitch, sit, twitch ...

Water's really greening up. Fish are under the docks and active, you just need to work slow and be patient.

Went to Madison for one purpose, to find the big gills. I figured Mendota was the place to be. Well we found big fish but they were crappies, boated about 8 all from 10 to 13" Fun but not a gill then I finally got bit by (what I though was a smallmouth because of the fight.) My biggest ever 10 1/2" bull gill. The only one of the morning but a best for this old timer. I've caught them all from musky to 20#+ salmon but this was the best feeling for me ever. Had to share this with some fisherman because my wife just doesn't see the big deal here.

The shorelines are now filled with bass, gills, and some crappies. Carp are starting to move in but the cooler weather has hampered them a little. I'm finding bass on the beds right now ... its about time for that 7 lber I've been busting my hump for!

I can't help you with the boat rental, but if you are looking to keep track of all those fish you catch on Waubesa ]. You can get a lake map and dynamically mark your fishing spots (or water hazards) online and share them with your friends.

Good luck!
Jim

Looks like the gills are fattening up for winter. My son caught his first 9+" gill and was thrilled. Great that he got to share it with his grandfather.

Fished yesterday from 12 to 7, fished gills to start, took a quick limit for my fishin buddy about 45 min 34 bulls! Then did some bass fishing caught 13 Lgm, 15-18's and 5 pike 22-32, raised 1 musky in high 30,s low 40,s and had one hit boat side bass fishing but no hooks hit home!:D As for the gills weed edges off spawning beds is working for me on the lower chain. Red worms, gulp, and plastics.

What's going on out here for bass now? I've got a tournament coming up and have never fished this lake before. I'm thinking some shallow slop should hold some bigguns?
And will I survive if I stay for the entire day on Monona instead of running to other lakes in the chain?
