One look at the Kewaunee River this AM was all it took to keep me searching for fishable water! She sure is raging and dirty right now! Ended up fishing near Algoma, hopping from spot to spot in search of some Trout. The only trout I could find today were 8" and smaller Rainbows. Had some fun for a couple hours catching Cohos and even a couple Kings yet! After this big roar of water is through I would think the Trout bite should be solid!

Hey thanks for the quick update! Can't wait to get back over that way, haven't been out much (in the process of buying our first house) so hopefully I can tangle with a few fish! Will report how things go!

Planning on making a trip out that way this weekend, does anyone know how quickly the clarity comes back, I can just imagine how fast and dirty shes gotta be right now! I am debating on heading to Kewaunee or Manitowoc this weekend.

Lance,
Go to kewaunee. The manitowoc river will be sky high and muddy; it was still high after the last rain we got.
The kewaunee will be better for flows and clarity. The fish pens were full of coho when I was there a few days ago. A few rainbows are up too.

Fished out of Kewaunee Sat night. Ended up going 5 for 5, all nice kings from 8lbs to 15lbs. Wokred the deeper water, out close to 200FOW, and got most hits down in the 120 range. Flasher/fly seemed to take all the hits. No fish on spoons.

Good luck

Sorry for no reporting for a long time. Been kind of fishing all over the place. But anyways, fishing is really starting to heat up around the Kewaunee area. Been getting a lot of nice kings so far. Mostly on flasher/fly set-ups. Doesn't seem to be a set depth that they are at, but mostly been trolling out in 140-180fow and working down to about 110' and up. It should only get better each week.

Good Luck

Thanks for the heads up! Do you think there is any way a guy could fish this weekend after the snow? I am thinking the water should be decent by Sunday if it stays cold, should clear up a bit. Anyone have any other suggestions as of where to target some Trout this weekend? I am torn on what to do and where to go since this weather has thrown a wrench in things!

Has anyone checked things out lately? I am thinking about making the trip over this weekend to try for some Rainbows, just thought I would ask if anyone knew if the ice was out yet. I may also cast off the pier heads, has anyone been out trying that lately with any luck? Thanks!

Things have been pretty slow Muskynate, fish are few and far between. Fresh spawn or cured spawn(using Pautzke borax o fire)seems to be the ticket. Hope things turn around here soon. Goo lucj if you go out.

went and did some ice checking the past couple of days. Solid 3-4 inches in most spots. But be careful, as some spots may have less. Hoping to get out on monday and tuesday to try it out. Pray the storm doesn't mess up the ice too bad.

Good Luck

Took a ride on Saturday to give the Ahnapee and Kewaunee a shot, ended up catching a 26" Northern and that was it. Casted cleos and spinners as well as tried minnows under a float. Need to get a hen of some sort to get some eggs! That was my goal of the day and I fell short! Was not fun casting with ice forming on my guides all day. I plan on getting out again around Thanksgiving, will let you know how I do.

Has anyone tried the rivers lately for Browns or Steelies? Thinking about heading out that way this weekend, not sure if I should head upriver or try Manty Harbor. Any input is appreciated!

Went out trolling in front of the mouth. Kind of slow yet, ended up going 2-3, one coho, one king and lost a big brown behind the boat. Was using crankbaits on the yellowbirds and spoons on the dipsies. Saw some surfacing, so should be about a week or so before it gets really good. Saw some others being caught on the pier and by another boat.

Good Luck
