Kevin

We had the same down this way. Low 80's about two weeks ago and now we have low 70's. The wind and stroms have stirred things up a bit making locating the fish tough at times, but that's what makes this sport so fun. Trying to find the fish. Consistent south winds have set up a good pattern again and the fish are going bonkers!

tight lines and good fishing to all!!!!

Looks like some pretty awesome fishing to me! What kind of water temperatures have you been seeing? We hit the low 80's a couple weeks ago up here on Little Bay de Noc. It has since slid back to the low to mid 70's, but the bite is still good. Nice report.

The Door County walleye fishing has been nothing short of spectaular so far this summer! Many fish over 28 inches have been caught with numerous fish over 30 as well! I've been working 20-45 fow with crawler harnesses and crankbaits and looking to see were the bait pods have been setting up, as the bait as been moving from day to day. Some of the cranks I've been running have been the deep Reef Runners and Husky Jerks. Colors have been changing from day to day but gold and blue and silver have proved to be the most consistent. Attached are a few pics from recent trips along with a recent video. You can also find more videos on my youtube account from recent trips. Get out and enjoy this fabulous fishing as it will be going on the rest of September.

Got to go fish on!

Tight lines and good fishing to all!!!

Just got back from fishing Door County for walleyes during the full moon period. All I can say is WOW!!!! 62 walleyes in total with 26 walleyes over 28 inches. With 7 fish over 30 inches largest going 31 1/4 inches. All fish were caught from sunset till moon set. We were fishing 12-15 fow looking for pods of bait fish. The last night we worked a little harder for them as we had a lot of alewives on our lures. This night bite is pretty much done now with the amount of alewives that have moved into the areas to spawn. I am in the process of putting a video together of the all video we shot during this trip. Will post it when it's complete. If you're interested in a spring walleye trip for 2011 or just have questions, you can e mail or call. As most clients are rebooking for next year. So prime dates are filling up. Still have a few openings in July, August and September for the large walleyes and salmon in Door County.

Tight lines and good fishing!!!

Fishing out of Bayshore park on the east shore or Suamico on the west shore are safe places to launch a boat and travel out from. Like always your first time to a new area I would just use caution. Suamico to the south back to Green Bay can have some tricky spots if you're not familar with the area. Fishing is a little slower than normal with the cold front that has come upon us last week. Stable weather and warming temps should really get the walleyes going. Cranks and harnesses are still pulling fish in 6-20 fow. Get out and enjoy this wonderful fishery.

Tight lines and good fishing to all!!!

You'll be o,k if you go out of most launches no need to worry that much, the gps will definitly help. I would compare it to lets say a computer.......almost everyone has one and needs one for work etc... same is true with a solid GPS and chip for the Bay. If you do not have the $$$$ then be careful study some chart maps and you'll still catch fish no problem. However there are bouys not marked and if you hit on at night your in deep trouble! I will go over all this stuff and more in next years Walleye class! Spring 2011 Beach Harbor resort!

Eric

eric, do you have any recommendations on places to fish on the bay that may be productive and fairly safe?

I would try out from suamico, university bay or geanos. be really carefull if it's your fish time out, it gets really shallow in area's. gps with depth contours is a must. try trolling flicker shads or salmo's 20-35' behind boards in 6-9 feet. keep boat speed between 1.4 - 1.8. I'll be up this week or next weekend to give it a shot. hope the winds calm a bit! good luck

oh boy no gps with graphs here(so i guess that makes me not totally set up to troll). so are there a lot of hazardous areas? what areas should i absolutly stay out of? i think i need to take erik's spring class on the bay!!!

if trolling what speeds are you guys running and how far behind the boards with what baits.

any info would be greatly appreciated!! i know it will be fun even if we don't catch anything

The school will be next Spring probably the 2nd or 3rd Friday/Saturday in April. Classroom/semiar will be 4 hours from 2PM till 6PM then we will go out and fish out in the bay that night. I will also be giving the same classroom schedule the following night from 2PM till 6Pm then we will fish. There will be some space availble to fish out of my boat and more than likely I will have 2-4 other guides with there boats available. So if you do not have a boat you can fish out of our boats otherwise the class will be mainly about how to you how to catch them in your boat. I will go over the entire bay where I fish, and when I fish specific locations. I will be working out the details later this fall then I will post all the info on my site.

Much of the class will be about different techniques that no one in the bay is doing and using, along with marked maps etc... Also discussing jigging in the Bay both day and night, along with the fantastic Big Pike Bite in the spring!

Here's a few pics from this past week

Went fishing sunday evening for a bit, ended up getting 6 walleyes ranging from 16.5in-26in. Probably would have caught more but the wind picked up and ended up calling it an early night.

Trolled from depths of 9 to 15 fow using cranks and stickbaits. No particular color mattered.

Good Luck
