Fished the upper end of Lake Wisconsin on Saturday. Overall action was slow but we picked up a few legal fish. Had two legal saugers, one legal saugeye and caught five short eyes. Fish were being taken here and there but from what we had seen nothing in the slot. Water was a little dirty and moving at a good clip in some spots.

Time's running out on the Lake WI "open" water season. That is if this weeks cold snap settles in and stays around for a few weeks. Fished Saturday and Sunday and although the wind made things a bit rough a few fish still bit. Two 19" male saugers on Saturday with a 21 1/2" slot sauger that swam to make some more babies. Only one 16" sauger on Sunday with a couple of short eyes in the mix. My best luck was in the 20-26' water SLOWLY lift and dropping a jig and minnow.

Have you been over to Gallus slough at all? Or do you concentrate on the main lake?

I try to concentrate on the main lake I usually have it all to myself. Its pretty tough to find the fish but when you do it can be awesome.:D

That's what I have heard. I have only strayed out onto the main lake once on ice. Most spots are too far of a walk to get to.

Once we get a bit more ice we can get atv to mobilze us. I relly like the cribs in okee bay, the fingers were awesome last year before it thawed and refroze. Also get them at the mouth of grubers grove and the sunkin islands out in front of the golf course. Have did well in the past at the grade. Still haven't iced an eye out of here in 11 years of hittin it hard. Thats ok with me though.

fished here friday, 5" of good ice. i caught well over 40 gills/perch, seen a 40+ toothy critter, and about m10 other toothy's under the hole, bass up to 3-4lbs. i caught 16 keepers that were 8"+ and a few perch that went 12". had to sight fish them in the shack, the fish weren't agressive, and were mouthing the baits. was a great morning out there.

We put the boat in tuesday at 9:00 am and fished till 6:pm . We started out in the hole by tippery point in about an average of 20 feet of water verticle jigging jigs and minnows. Missed a couple of fish early and then the wind came up and we drifted up river in the wind towards the current. We boated 2 nice saugers on the 1st drift a 15 incher and an 18 incher and things were starting turn on . The next time we used the trolling motor to pull us down river and verticle jig again we missed three fish and got a smallie. Picked up a freind about noon and started to pull dpwn and put 2 nice 18 inch saugers in the boat. Then we turned the boat sideways with the wind and drifted back up in the wind and pulled in another 15 incher. We had 5 in the box in this spot but now the wind was about 25 mph and we decided to got to another spot up river to get out of the wind. We were glad we made the move because we ended up with 13 saugers and 1 walleye in the livewell and threw back 2 shorts and a nice 20 1/4 in the slot that we threw back. Most of the fish were caught on plastics and 3/8th once jigs. Overall a great day fishing !! Heres some pics.

Anybody know the water temps and if the whole lake is open? I'm looking to get out seaching for the first Bass of the year. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Temps in the narrows last Saturday were 41-43 Deg. Below the Sauk Dam they were 37-38. The lake was open as far south as Breezy point but not at all out of current. We have a place across from Tipperary so we just go out from there, so I dont know what launches are open yet. There were a good number of boats thogh so they were gettin' on somewhere. Not much action for me though, just 1 legal female that I put back and two short saugers. All caught on B-Fishin Paddle Tails. - Salty

Anyone got an idea of the water temps right now? I am finally getting out on saturday to look for some prespawn green carp. Gotta try and find a pattern over the next two weekends before the spring fling on the 25th.

The fall bite is picking up...... Fished Saturday and caught a lot of undersized eyes and saugers along with a couple of keeper saugers and a couple of sheepies and white bass. From what I saw fish were caught a number of ways including blade baits, jig and minnow, jig and plastic, and trolling. Fish came any where from 15' down to 30'. Needless to say the trestle area was packed.

Fished the grade on saturday afternoon. Lots of tip up fisherman out there and lots os guys running for flags. Not many fish under the flags. Did see a few little norhtern pulled out and released. We fished for a couple hours and the only thing we got was cold. Did see a few little gills caught.
