Anyone using the Church "Walleye" orange planer boards? I bought one to play with late last season and just could not get it to pull correctly. It almost seems like the weight on the board is too much for it.?? I have a pair of Off Shore Tackle boards and had no problem with them. Took them out of package and put them in the water and they ran right. Anything I could be over looking???

I use them and they work just fine. Walleye boards have an adjustable weight, I would recommend adjusting it forward or backwards and it should correct your problem. Further back makes nose of board ride higher for rough water.

Thanks. I only had the opportunity to play with it a couple of times last fall. It did seem like the board would not come up on "plane" when I tried it. It would ride 50% or more in the water. I'll give the weight a try.

that sounds like you need to move the weight forward then.

I have used church boards quite a bit. I would be carefull about moving the weight to far forward. These boards do have a tendacy to dive when you are hooked up on a large fish. Personally I would leave it as is. The church boards were also what I started on and I also messed with the weight. I ended up putting them back to where they came from the box. Once you get comfortable using boards I would look into the Off Shore boards they work a lot better for me.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll play with the Church board and see what happens. I must admit that after this initial trial I do like the Off Shore boards more.

As long as there's a thread on "boards", I thought that I would ask some of you "pro board pullers" a question or two. I've read alot about boards lately and I will be switching over to Offshore's this Spring. How do you guys feel about the Tattle Flag that Offshore offers? I also read about the homemade tattle's and it sounds like that's the way to go, being that you can make them for a few dollars or so. The only problem with that is the fact that I'm definitely "mechanically challenged" and I doubt that I could make them myself. What kind of clips, front and back, should I use for 10-14# Power Pro? Thanx for any kind of help on this matter as I'm quite new to this type of fishing.

I use the tattle tales and definently love them especially when you have a dink hanging on. You have to really pay attention if you don't have them and a small one grabs on. Usally I am too preocupied with trying to keep the boat going in right direction and keeping the circus running smoothly. If you buy the pre made ones you may want to make a trip to the hardware store and pick up some stiffer springs if you are looking to pull cranks. The ones that come with it will work fine for pulling harness. I have a link also that shows you how to make your own. Whole lot cheaper and not real hard. Let me know if you would like the link.

Here is the link that I refered to in my last post. Not real hard to do. I picked up the piano wire and springs at an Ace hardware in Sussex. I am sure you can get the parts some where near where you live.
Enjoy

Thanx fella's! That's the "link" that I received on Lake-Link. It surely does'nt look too difficult, so I'll give it a shot. Do you guys have any pointers on which clips would be best for 14# PowerPro or Fireline? Would the clips that come on the Offshore suffice? Thanx again and good luck this season!!!

I would upgrade the "pinch pad" clips that come with the board located on the arm of the board to the OR-18 clamps. I get less slipping with superlines with the OR-18s.
