I'm actually heading up to Chetek from tomorrow, Thurs 8/10, until Sun 8/13. I'm going to be targeting bass and pike on Chetek, and then doing some river fishing in the area as well. I'll let you know how I do.

Hit the chain the other day, caught lots of fish in 3 hours, only six keepers though. Mostly bluegills. They seem to be running a tad bit small this year. Will try again next week!

Hit the chain this morning, man was it COLD! I had 5 below in the Envoy before driving out, where the temp dropped to -13. There was a god 2 feet of ice. Fish bit right away. Easily caught over 50 in just over 3 hours. Only kept 10, as they seemed to be running small. Will be back soon, hopefully on a much WARMER day!

Went out again this afternoon. Didn't make it out til almost 4. Caught probably 50 gills and crappies, they shut right off at about 5:30. Once again, you were sorting for keepers, but all in all, a very good time!:)

Back on the chain today from 9am til about 1:30. Really cold and windy. Stayed warm and cozy inside the shack. The gills weren't quite as active as last night with this front, but finally got em to start biting, and they bit well. Ended up keeping 7. Really would have liked to stay and keep fishing, but having to drive back to Chippewa Falls, with that wind cranking, and the snow coming down, wanted to get going before the roads got too bad. Sounds like it is gonna be cold the rest of the week.:(

I was just out on the Chetek Chain this morning, and it's all of the bluegills and crappies you want! The crappies weren't huge, but the numbers were. We also got into some nice gills. Throw in some little perch, a fat largemouth, and a scrappy pike for a decent mixed bag. All fish were caught on tube jigs or minnows, and then released.

Just got back from doing a guide job on the Chetek chain, and it is still all of the bluegills and crappies you want. Lots of smaller ones, but a blast indeed. With the holiday weekend our best results came in the lower traffic areas. Flirty girty with a waxie or a tube jig, fish after fish. All fish released, I will post the pics later ;)
