Any recommendations for smallie fishing in the Milwaukee area in early June? Also, any recommendations for float/smallie fishing in a river/stream?

Every river in our area has smallies and largemouth that are fishable. You have some size in our rivers but, to many people keep the bass and are making it hard for the fish to reach trophy size. Not to say they do not exist but, I do not see the 15" to 20" fish in high numbers anymore. They come every so often though. The Sheboygan, Milwaukee, Fox, and Rock all have bass in decent numbers. Pick a river with good structure like dams, bridges, current breaks and cover such as rocks, boulders, fallen trees, log piles, and man made structure. If you are willing to trully fish and cover a lot of water you can pick up some respectable fish with some pike, muskys, walleyes, and whatever else is around. Pack light, bring spinners, jigs, curly tail grubs, some crankbaits, topwaters, and some jerkbaits, mix it up, see what they commit to.

Now for smallmouth lakes. I have caught them on Pine, Nagawicka, Lower and Upper Nemaubin, Oconomowoc, and Pewaukee Lake. Take your pick and give it a shot. Put your time in, study the waters you fish, and you can probably pick up on a bite. Good luck....
