I am basically pretty new to fishing. I fish in a quarry that is loaded with bass, very large bass. It also has bluegill and perch, which are also pretty good sized.

I love to fish for bass. I am able to catch them but they are always in the 15 to 16 inch range. Nothing I seem to do or use seems to attract the bigger ones. Now they say use bigger bait to catch bigger fish. They dont seem to be picky as to lure selection. I am able to catch them on any variety of lure. I mostly use the rubber worm setup or a Mepps 3. Just hoping someone can sahre some tips.

Also looking to find out what would work best for catching some perch. I have no idea how I go about jigging for perch. I dont use a boat and it sounds like jigging is done when in a boat, not from shore. Any tips on setup would be greatly appreciated. Would be willing to share my secret spot for a day with someone who would be willing to teach me too!

Thanks in advance!!

alot of times the smaller fish will be shallower and more accessible to shore anglers while the bigger fish move to first drop off. In a quarry they may suspend on shelfs. If there is significant fishing pressure, maybe consider night fishing as quarries are generally clear water. Even if deep, consider top water.

always remember to change things up, fish see the same lures, they will be harder to catch, a chatterbait, silver shad rap, the new red shad by cordell, and some times just before dark, the bigger fish come crusin for baitfish, and top waters work great-white buzz bait, and hula poppers. just keep plugging away, you will find the pattern, then it gets easier.
