Just wondering if anybody on here is from the Shawano area or fishes Shawano Lake at all. I have been an avid fisherman out there since i was a little boy. I focus my fishing on Walleyes, Muskies, and Panfish with my fly rod in the spring.

Finally the travel if decent out here. The snow went down and there still is a lot of drivble ice to have.
A lot of fish are being caught especially with this warm up. Bluegill going good off of West shore from 7-10fow weeds fishing 1-2' off the bottom, move around until you find them and then stick with what is working.
Crappies are also hitting well off the West same depth some days alittle deeper. Using a plain #14 treble with a fathead moving from hole to hole only fishing 1-2' under the ice watching everyone hit. If you don't get a hit within the first minute in that hole move, crappies if there will almost always hit immediately when you put bait down.
Good luck

Fished Shawano today off of county park. We caught a bunch of little perch but nothing worth keeping. We couldnt seem to find any gills or crappies. We set out tip ups for eyes and also had no luck with that. We had 14 inches of ice(measured). Driving was ok. I managed to get stuck once with 4wd. We were fishing far away from the crowds so I had to blaze my own trails. If I would have stayed on the beaten path I wouldnt have had a problem. There were cars out there.
Overall a long unsuccessful weekend with lots of miles logged in between bago and shawano. Back to work tomorrow:(

Thinking of changing my name to dink sticker after our trip to Shawano this past weekend. We caught a ton of bass but the biggest was only 3 lbs. Fish seem to be in a summer pattern already, Water temps were in the mid to upper 60's and weeds were up all over the lake. We concentrated on the 4-6 ft range and used jigs, stickbaits, cranks, and swimbaits. For some reason we can't seem to locate any big bass on Shawano any ideas?
We also fished the river and that was a waste of time besides a few small smallmouth. Saw quite a few guys fishing for musky out there, didnt see or hear of any landed though. Panfish are biting pretty good in the 6-8 ft range, we saw a few gills bedded up in Washington lake. Gonna try Shawano again in 2 weeks to see if we can find a 3.5-4 lb bass, I know some exist in there.

I am fishing the TBF state championship out on Shawano next weekend and have never been there before. Plus with my work schedule and tournament schedule I am unable to get up there and prefish other than next friday right before the tournament starts.
Anyone have any advice or want to help me out???
Colors, baits, areas, etc. I am not expecting any but some input would be awesome. I have info to share on most lakes/rivers in exchange.
Eric buddy???? Got anything???:D
Please PM me. Thanks

Well that was an interesting weekend. Got up to Shawano thursday night and out on the water early Friday morning only to find my electronics were toast. I spent the 1st half of the day trying to locate deeper weedlines and points without electronics only to wave the white flag by noon. I knew the only shot I had was to fish shallow cover. I started cruising the shallows looking for visible cover. I found one area about 3 pm that had a ton of mix weeds (mostly pads) in about 3 ft of water. In the next 30 minutes I had 13 blowups from some pretty good fish. At least I now had somewhere to start day 1. On the first day of the tournament I fished the spot I had found the prior afternoon for the first 7 hours. I had poor execution and only caught two keepers out of that spot missing about 30. Towards the end of the day I decided to try and scrap a couple small keepers together. The wind was blowing so I ran to some reed fields I had seen the day before knowing that there should be some fish setup on the outside edges of the reeds picking off stuff as the wind blew it in. I got one keeper and 12 shorts in 15 minutes. At least now I had two spots for day 2 if the wind blew right.I spent the evening adjusting my tackle and mentally going through the mistakes I had made earlier in the day. I knew I was on the fish to do some damage after only 6 limits were brought in out of 134 angler day one. On day 2 I had an early boat draw and ran straight to my slop spot from day one and got a 3 pounder right away and missed a couple others. After one pass the wind was blowing pretty good so I ran to my other spot and nailed another 3 pounder and another keeper. I then ran back to my first spot and filled out my limit at 11.5 pounds. I caught all of my fish on swim jigs, hard body frogs, and a pitchback bait. I ended up finishing the tournament in 9th place making the TBF State Team. Next fall I along with the other 11 state team members will be traveling to Potoka Lake in southern Indiana for the TBF regional championship competing against the other state teams for a chance to make the National championship. If anyone knows anything about Potoka Lake and wants to help out let me know.

Thanks bud. Unfortunately with no electronics I was out of luck. I just did what I do best and went fishing.
